Definitely get the new interior sponge!! as for to spray on the surface or on the sponge...this leather cleaner will not hurt/discolor the leather. i do spray directly on the surface... withe other "leather and interior cleaner"s you can discolor the leather i used to spray onto a towel then wipe.. also problem with the other brands is that you always had to come back over the surface with their conditioner because it dried the leather out.. this will not!!!
