Paint Correction Process on a '68 GT Mustang

This is a '68 Mustang GT that my client requested paint correction to be done on.

This was my first time to use the Gloss-It products.

I started out by color-sanding the vehicle using 1500 grit, then moving to 2500 grit and completing the color-sanding using 3000 grit. I then used the Gloss-It Extreme Cut with a yellow wool pad on a orbit machine. Once I had the 3000 grit sand marks out of the paint, I moved to the Gloss-It Evolution Cut using my DA and a yellow Meguiar’s foam pad. Next using another yellow Meguiar’s foam pad I put the Gloss-It Evolution Polish on the vehicle and finished off with the Gloss-It Gloss Activator and the Gloss-It Gloss Finish. I think the photos show it best! It turned out great and the depth of shine is very apparent. Gloss-It turned this 68 into a show winning classic car.

Enjoy the photos...

I didn't know you used Gloss It products on this car, it looked really good when you brought it up to Luigi's that day.

Also, did you just change your name...b/c i swear it was DetailWerkz.com or something like that, yesterday evening.

This was my very first time to really use Gloss-It Paint Correction polishes. It was also the reason why I have so many photos of the process. I had to color-sand this car to get all the orange out and then used the Gloss-It products to do the paint correction. I finished off with the Gloss Finish. Had I had the Signature Gloss I would have coated it up with 5 coats. The Gloss Finish as you can see in the photos does an awesome job! The Signature does give more depth and clarity and has a durability life of 12-14 months.

Yea my nick was... DetailWerkz.Com but since more and more new folk are coming on here I wanted to simplify it.

Beautiful finish as usual! Did you have to wetsand the entire car to get ride of the orange peel, was it by hand or did you use a mirka or something?

I did the sanding all by hand and finished up with my 7424 and the 3M 3000 pads before starting to buff with foam and Gloss-It correction polishes.

I had to sand every inch of paint, so I had to take off all the bumper, tail lights and door handles to do it properly. Took over 25 hours to do the whole car from start to finish!

Wow thats some dedication, looks like it was well worth it from the pictures though.

Hey Brian, post up some undercarriage pictures.

I saw the car in person and trust me, it is ready for Pebble Beach.

I believe I did indeed take some photos of the undercarriage. I had to degrease and wax the undercarriage so I was under it for a while!
