Okay... sorry Damon about responding to you question in a timely manner.
I am looking into the solution for this problem. The problem is the amount of heat generated through the head of the PC transfers down the bolted thread heating the backing plate in return melting the glue between the Velcro and foam.
I have found through testing that when the machine is getting hot to let of the heavy pressure applied for removing the deeper imperfections. This is a failure of the machine getting way to hot and the backing plate was never intended to take this amount of heat. I would like to keep the soft cellular foam due to the flexibility it offer for contour panels on most cars today.
I will be working on this issue that is only isolated to the PC polisher not rotary. Might take some time with SEMA around the corner.
