So this is part II of my trip to Houston, Texas to work on 2 vehicles for a new client of mine and his business partner.
For this vehicle we traveled to Lamborghini of Houston. I am very good friends with the owner, the CFO, a few mechanics and the master detailer at Lamborghini of Houston so it was more of a home coming to see all my old time friends once again. All of them use to work at Lamborghini of Dallas before it was sold. Once it was sold they all moved to Lambo of Houston.
Up to bat was a 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo. We scheduled my New Car Prep and started the process by foaming the vehicle. Letting the foam dwell on the paint helps release stuck on dirt and grime that can and will induce swirls and scratches on your paint when you start to wash. Even with a 2 bucket system, a grit guard etc, you take a high risk of scratching your paint if you don't pre-foam the vehicle. Again all the foam is doing is pre-wetting the dirt and helping it loosen from the bond of the paint.
I did not take photos of the foaming process, but snapped some shots of the clay treatment. We do a panel by panel clay treatment to ensure that each painted section is free of any embedded contamination such as rail dust, brake dust, tree sap, paint over spray, etc. This helps open up the clear and helps the bonding of the LSP.
Once we had the car clayed we re-washed it one last time and then proceeded to do our 3-stage drying process. We first want to dry the car using a water blade to remove as much surface water as we can to help control water spotting. Once we have around 90 to 95 percent of the water off the surface of the car, we come in with our Grit Guard micro-fiber waffle weave drying towels. I love these towels and they will not scratch the surface of your vehicle and they hold 8 times their weight in water. Once we had the vehicle towel dried we grabbed our blowers and started to blow out the hidden areas where the water likes to hide and then come rushing out when you least expect it.
Once I had the car dried I started to assess the paint using my Fenix LED light. The paint had a lot of flake and this made it hard to see the micro-swirls but there were just a tad showing and I decided to grab my Flex DA, Gloss It Yellow 5 inch foam pad and the Gloss It One Step Machine Polish and proceeded to go around panel by panel and work out the micro-swirls till I had a great foundation for my polishes.
Once I had the paint corrected to my standards I grabbed the Gloss It Blue 5 inch foam pad and applied the Gloss It Signature High Gloss using my Flex DA and speed 4 applied and jeweled the finish. Once I had this applied I came back around the car with the Gloss It Gloss Finish and jeweled it even more and to give even more protection and gloss to the paint.
The interior was not left behind. We used the Gloss It Satin Leather Cleaner to cleaned all the interior surfaces and then applied the Gloss It Satin Leather Polish. The carpets were foamed with Tough Stuff cleaner and we applied a protectant on the carpets to help with stains and possible spills.
The engine also got a go around and we sprayed the Gloss It Tire Gel on the engine prior to our first wave of washing. Agitating the engine using different brushes ensured of a deep clean of the engine that showed some wear. Once the engine was cleaned we used the blowers and then applied a healthy coat of the Gloss It Signature Tire Shine to the engine. Once this had time to dwell we buffed the entire engine to a like new state. I love using the Gloss It Tire Shine to my engines. After you buff it down it looks like a new engine, not too shiny, just that new look that my clients like to see.
After the polished had cured we removed them using the Grit Guard scratchless microfiber towels and then applied a coat of the Gloss It Gloss Enhancer to help de-static the paint and just make it POP.
Sesar and myself started on this vehicle around 2pm and completed our detail at 6pm. It was a joy to get the opportunity to work on this vehicle and especially the chance to see old friends again. I look forward to working on this and the owners other vehicle in the future. Gloss It really made this vehicle POP and FIRED IT UP!!
