Detailed 2003 Mercedes CL55 AMG - Black

I got a call from a really good client that he just purchased a 2003 Mercedes CL55 and that he wanted me to do my magic before he picked it up from the dealership.

When I arrived at the dealership and saw the car in the sun for the first time I knew I was going to have my hands full. The vehicle was a one-owner older guy who you could tell did take care of the vehicle and from the looks of the paint took it weekly to a detail/car wash center for its cleanings. The hood, roof and trunk lid were swirled and scratched quite badly.

We started washing the car with some Dawn to strip off what the dealership applied. I knew the damage was going to be even worse as I assumed they put on some filler wax to try to make the car look its best on the showroom. I was right! After we clayed the car and dried it not only were there swirls and scratches but there were TONS of holograms.

I got out the Makita and put on the orange/green pad and used some Evolution Cut. It was doing really good but taking a while so I moved to the Gloss It black wool pad and cut up the car working out the deeper RIDS and blending all the swirls. Once I had a section where I wanted I switched back to my orange pad, but I went with the 4 inch orange pad on my makita and worked the area at about speed 5 adjusting it to my needs. Once I had it jeweled I switched to the Green and the Evolution Polish and finished out the area till it was 85-90% paint corrected. It took me right at an hour/half to get the car 100% swirls free and 85%-90% scratch free. Once I was happy with the paint I applied the Signature gloss using my Cyclo and green pads. I really worked in the Signature gloss and went around the car 2 times for a double coat. I finished off the car with the 7424 and a coat of Gloss Finish. I have found the Signature comes off much easer with a coat of the Gloss Finish on top.

Once we had the car cleaned of the polish I Gloss Enhanced it till it was popping like mad. We used the Satin Leather Cleaner and Polish on the leathers in the car and the T.R.V. on the vinyl, plastic and rubber items.

The client called me the next day when he was picking up the car and was just blown away. He had seen it once when he was looking for a CL and could not believe it was the same car. Even the dealership was blown away and I expect to get some business from them because of this detail.

Total time with 4 guys was 3 hours.

Enjoy the photos....

Great job Brian! The sun reflections are crystal clear, very impressive work as always. The black looks super deep. One piece of advice though, on the Makita you say you went to speed 5? Were you on the rotary or random mode because speed 5 on a rotary is super fast, I never exceed speed 3 (1500rpm), I think you were in the random mode though, right? Either way the Merc looks sick. Im gonna try using a Gloss Finish over Signature so it buffs off easier, but I did a porsche yesterday and Signature came off like butter on its own.
