Detail Werkz : 2008 Land Rover LR3

Got a call from a good friend/client of mine that needed to have his LR3 detailed for a photo shoot. He warned me that it was a bit dirty and looked really bad when it was cleaned. He said it looked so bad that he just kept it dirty all the time. We scheduled my Platinum Signature Gloss and got to work.

He was right..it was REALLY dirty!

We foamed the vehicle with the 230 degree water and let it sit for a min before we started washing the vehicle. To be sure we got it washed correctly we went around it three times. We then clayed it using the Lavender Gloss-It claybar and washed it one more time to remove the clay residue.

I used the new Gloss-It Beta Wheel cleaner and again it just blew me away at its cleaning ability. The owner owns a premier wheel company and these wheels were very expensive and I did not even worry about damaging them with this new wheel cleaner.

Once we got the vehicle dried I could not believe how swirled this ride was!

I decided since I was on a time crunch with the sun setting in a few hours to use my Cyclo the orange pads and the new Gloss-It One Step Machine Polish. I started on the driver side rear door first. It was looking rough!

I worked this door for about 5-10 mins using the one-step and Cyclo. The outcome was mind blowing!

I was not even trying to get 100% paint correction, but was able to pull off close to 80-90% correction using the Cyclo and orange pads with the one-step machine polish.

I then started to move around the vehicle. Next was the drivers door. It too looked bad!

After the one-step and Cyclo with orange pads.

I flipped the vehicle around so I could get the sun on the vehicle to work the passenger side. It looked just like the other side...BAD!

Using the Cyclo, orange pads and again the one-step machine polish it really cleaned up the paint!

Here is a side/by/side shot of correction and no correction.

Every panel on this vehicle was swilled silly!

One step and a bit of time and it turned out great!

Once I had the vehicle corrected, I applied the Signature Gloss and topped it with the Gloss Finish. While this was curing we knocked out the interior using Gloss-It Satin Leather Cleaner and topped with T.R.V. and Satin Leather Polish.

We applied the Gloss-It signature tire dressing on the tires and after taking off the polishes and applying some Gloss Enhancer on the paint we called this one DONE!

Enjoy the finished shots of this detail.

That was a massive undertaking Brian! It would have taken a lot longer to correct that paint using the Makita or even Flex radom because you need to polish in the straight-line overlapping pattern but with the cyclo I bet you were able to lay on the pressure and work it whichever way you wanted. I love the cyclo for cars with large door panels and hoods, you cover a lot more surface area with the machine. To get 80% correction from where this car started is a great resultm, I bet its bice working outside as well, you get the open air!

Wheel cleaner looks awesome as well, I have to try mine soon!

exactly that! It was taken to the car wash its whole life. I told the owner to not take it to one of those again, and we have since set up a monthly program to take care of all three of his vehicles. He also has a sweet 09 BMW M3 that I will be working on soon.

David, Its very nice to work outside when the weather is nice. I do love the cyclo for jobs like this, because I can apply tons of pressure and work out the issues and not worry about leaving buffer trails or holograms like I can with the orbit. The Cyclo is ideal for mobile detailers who need to make a quick difference and not need to focus on 100% or more paint correction.

wow, that was just plain sick.... so after you polish, do you do any kind of IPA wipe down or anything of the sorts to ensure to polishing oils are left on the paint before you do your LSP?
